The assigned UN Volunteer will work in close cooperation with and receive mentoring from the Regional Gender Advisor and Gender Specialists in order to support gender mainstreaming as well as gender transformative programming.

Task description
Under the direct supervision of Regional Gender Advisor, the UN Volunteer will:
• Support consolidating gender results reported by COs in reports and evaluations, including the annual country office annual narrative and results reports.
• Support the development and maintenance of a knowledge-sharing platform (internal and external), in coordination with UNICEF MENA’s Gender and ICT teams, using SharePoint.
• Compile a monthly newsletter for the regional gender team with relevant resources, tools and guidance, to promote the regional and global gender programme priorities.
• Support the development of case studies and best practices.
• Collaborate with country offices, undertake research, and support the writing of the case studies.
• Other tasks as needed, including support on internal processes, research, and support for Regional Office or Country Office projects. Required skills and experience:
• Professional work experience at the national and/or international is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
• Understanding of Gender Equality and willingness to learn UNICEF programming modalities and strategies
• Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
• Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;

• Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
• Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
• Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
• Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
• Sound security awareness;
• Have affinity with or interest in child rights and gender equality, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Required education level
Bachelor degree or equivalent in Women’s Studies/Gender Studies or any related field. This assignment is open for Bachelor’s Degree holders who are currently enrolled in Master’s Degree studies in Women’s Studies/Gender Studies or related fields or have recently finished their masters degree.
