DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Chief of Partner Engagement and Coordination Section (C/PEC) of the DMPS Division at the WMO Services Dept., the incumbent will perform the following duties:
(a) Curate authoritative information and advice including sub seasonal and seasonal climate outlooks and hydrological forecasts from WMO Members and designated Centers;

(b) Regular and timely support provided through WCM on ENSO and climate outlook to Members and key stakeholders, such as UN and the humanitarian agencies;
(c) Support UN ENSO cell assessments and reports, development of the ENSO, monthly and seasonal climate briefings, El Niño summary, presentations;
(d) Provide scientific checks and verifications of Press releases, WMO web-news and other relevant outreach documents;
(e) Support the sustainability of current products and the development of new contributions from WCM;
(f) Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS | ||
Education Master’s degree or equivalent in Climatology, Physics, Atmospheric Sciences, Meteorology, Hydrology, or a closely related discipline, or a bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant work experience. | ||
Experience A minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience in developing and curating climate information including impact assessments to support humanitarian preparedness with fit-for-purpose weather, climate, water information and expert advice. Support Multi-hazard impact estimations, and the design, delivery and continuous improvement of Infographics, briefs, and products to advance humanitarian early action. | ||

Other requirements
Sense of integrity, responsibility, maturity of judgment, initiative and creativity. Good analytical skills. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, critical thinking, results-oriented, attention to detail.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage, but the CROSSEU and CARMINE projects will be conducted and delivered in English.
