How To Apply

The application process consists of two parts. First, complete the initial portion of the application here in STEM Gateway. After submitting it, you will receive the second part via email within one week. Kindly refrain from reaching out about the second part of your application unless it has been more than one week since you submitted the first part.

Who Can Apply

Undergraduate students interested in participating in a paid, 8-week, summer 2025 internship program (June through August) in Earth system science. Note: SARP targets universities that do not have significant research opportunities for undergraduate students.

What The Internship Comprises of

Participants will work in one of four interdisciplinary teams to study land, atmospheric, or oceanographic processes.Participants will experience the various aspects of a field campaign, including campaign planning, data collection, data analysis, and presentation of results. The first week of the program will be a series of foundational lectures given by experts in their respective fields. The second and third weeks will provide participants with the opportunity for hands-on research using instruments on different research platforms (aircraft, mobile, water vessels, ground, etc.).
