The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is excited to announce a job opening for the position of Communications Officer (Web and Social Media) at the P-3 level for 2025. As the Communications Officer, you will be responsible for managing our web presence and social media channels, creating engaging content that informs and inspires our global audience. Your work will be crucial in enhancing IFAD’s visibility and fostering meaningful connections with stakeholders and partners around the world.

Education:

•         Level – Advanced university degree from an accredited institution. The advanced university degree may be substituted by a first university degree and at least four (4) additional years of relevant professional experience over and above the minimum number of years of experience as stipulated below.
•         Areas –  Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences or other relevant discipline

Degree must be an accredited institution listed on https://www.whed.net/home.php 

Experience:

•         At least five (5) years progressively responsible professional experience in communications in an international organization or media or communications organization.

Languages:

•         Required: English (4 – Excellent) 
•         Desirable: French, Spanish, or Arabic (3 – Good) 

Skills:

•         Communication Strategy, Expert in planning and implementing internal and external communication to achieve communication objectives: defining communication goals, target audience, creating a communication plan and identifying the right channels. Expert in communication concepts, processes, or data to support long term goals of the organisation; 

•         Adaptability, Adaptability and flexibility when facing new or unexpected situations, and to specific constraints and circumstances and managing complex processes; 
•         IFAD governance and mandate, In depth knowledge of IFAD’s governance structure, mandate, strategic priorities and technical work; 

•         Political acumen, Ability to conduct sound political analysis and understand complex environments, providing options and advice; 
•         Initiative and good judgement, High sense of proactive initiative-taking and good judgement (including on security matters); 
•         Advocacy, Ability to leverage IFAD knowledge and/or communication materials to maintain and promote constructive dialogue around IFAD’s vision and strategic priorities to external actors; 
•         Synthesis, Outstanding ability to synthesize and simplify complex technical information for a variety of (non-technical) audiences; 

•         Specialized communication skills, Technical know-how relevant to the specific communication role considered (e.g. communication planning, building and maintaining media relations, video production, publishing, web and other digital media, graphic design, visual identity, brand management, internal communication and events management); 
•         Verbal communication, Ability to use verbal communication as a main tool in profession; clear, succinct and convincing verbal communication; highly professional, balanced and diplomatic language; 

•         Written communication,  Ability to use written communication as a main tool in profession, including for speech writing ; clear, succinct and convincing written communication ; highly professional, balanced and diplomatic language; 
•         Risk management (e.g. reputational): Identification and assessment of potential liabilities and risks in IFAD’s activities, particularly vis-à-vis third parties; ability to handle risks via contingency and mitigation strategies;

•         Strategic mindset, Proactive, ongoing identification of strategic opportunities, potential synergies and partnerships; 
•         Performance Management, Know-how in managing performance,  learning management, establishing learning plans and ensuring staff supervised meet their development needs while meeting the needs of IFAD; 3
•         Project coordination, Identification of key-priorities, ability to work with others, coordinate and structure work to meet deadlines and adjustment of workplan/resource allocation when needed, identification and management of project-related risks; 

•         Marketing,  Know-how in marketing and communication resource mobilization strategies for IFIs and international public bodies;
