The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
Responsibilities
• Works with key partners and stakeholders and provides technical and administrative support to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the assigned project (components).
Monitors and analyzes specific aspects of project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and recommends corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
Competencies
• Professionalism: Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to biodiversity conservation, ecosystem-based adaptation and nature-based solutions or other related field. Ability to identify issues, analyze and participate in the resolution of issues/problems.
Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree, equivalent or higher) in a field relevant to mountains, ecosystem management, biodiversity conservation and restoration, climate change adaptation, including environmental sciences, sustainable development or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project management, including experience in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem-based adaptation/nature-based solutions is required. Experience in policy mainstreaming and advocacy including at national level, regional and global level is required.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
