WHO Senior Technical Officer (Deputy Team Leader) 2025.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is pleased to announce an opening for the position of Senior Technical Officer (Deputy Team Leader) for 2025. This key role is essential for driving strategic initiatives and supporting the implementation of health programs at both global and regional levels.

The Senior Technical Officer will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, providing leadership and technical expertise to enhance health systems and improve health outcomes. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence public health policy and practice, contributing to WHO’s mission of promoting health, keeping the world safe, and serving vulnerable populations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in Medicine or health related field and Master’s Degree in Public Health, majoring in epidemiology.
Desirable:

Experience

Essential: At least 10 years of combined relevant experience at the national and international levels in public health, particularly disease control.
Desirable: Experience in immunization programmes as well as in-field training.

Skills

  • Ability to administer and to evaluate public health programmes, especially EPI programmes and polio eradication.
  • Being able to build and promote partnership across the organization and beyond.

  • Capacity promoting WHO’s position in health leadership. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively with people of different cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Excellent Knowledge and technical expertise in epidemiology and diseases prevention, control and eradication..

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 101,540 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 2945 per month for the duty station indicated above.

Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
