The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Regional Energy Unit
The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Regional Energy Unit operates in the context of the overall Bank mission while focusing on the key energy challenges for the region, which include (i) improving the quality and efficiency of energy infrastructure services, and expanding sustainable energy infrastructure capacity, (ii) increasing deployment of clean energy technologies and practices, (iii) decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors, and (iv) increasing resilience to climate change.
Duties and Accountabilities
You will report to the Practice Manager of the Energy Infrastructure Unit in LAC and work alongside a group of professionals based in Washington DC and throughout the region, performing the following duties:
•Support the design and implementation of on-going and future operations in Energy Transition Segments: (i) sustainable, secure, reliable, affordable electricity systems, (ii) industrial transformation, (iii) achieving universal access of energy, and (iv) all foundational areas necessary to deliver sustainable energy systems (planning, sector reforms, policy and regulation, financial solutions, and other).
Selection Criteria
•Master’s degree or PhD in economics (energy or climate change fields), finance, or engineering (energy, electrical), or equivalent areas.
•At least 5 years of combined experience in international institutions and/or companies, government agencies, and/or power sector utilities with demonstrated track record of successful engagement with complex projects.
