Contract Information
The first year of contract will be probationary with the possibility of further extension subject to satisfactory performance. This post is limited to local status* only. *Local status requires applicants to have unhindered permission to live and work in the UK.
Salary
Approximately £40,487 net per annum, (subject to deductions), free of income tax in the UK. Excellent benefits including medical insurance and UN pension scheme.
Purpose of the Post
Finance and Budget Services seek to fill three roles in its Financial Operations team, responsible for transaction processing, control, and reconciliation for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Treasury. While each role has a primary focus, team members are expected to support other functions during peak periods.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of suppliers after reconciling their statements , consultants, temporary staff, and implementing partners, verifying compliance with financial procedures and resolving discrepancies.
- Manage financial interactions with suppliers, consultants, contractors, and travel agents, resolving disputes and ensuring credits for cancelled trips.
Required Competencies
1 Demonstrated ability to work independently under general guidance, with high degree of accuracy, initiative, judgement.
2 Demonstrated ability to multitask and to work under pressure, whilst maintaining excellent quality and attention to deadlines and details.
Professional Experience
A minimum of six years of relevant professional and working experience in financial accounting, analysis and reporting.
Education
Secondary education to University standard is essential. Part-qualification in a recognized institute such as CIMA, CPA, CA and/or ACCA is required.

Language Skills
Proficiency in English (written and oral) is essential. A working knowledge of other official UN languages, particularly French or Spanish, would be an asset.
Other Skills
Proficiency in MS Office applications particularly Excel and Word) is essential. Experience in the use of financial systems and ERP system.
