Contract Information
The first year of contract will be probationary with the possibility of further extension subject to satisfactory performance. This post is limited to local status* only. *Local status requires applicants to have unhindered permission to live and work in the UK.
Salary
Approximately £40,487 net per annum, (subject to deductions), free of income tax in the UK. Excellent benefits including medical insurance and UN pension scheme.
Purpose of the Post
Under the direct supervision of the Sales and Marketing Officer, and the overall supervision of the Head, Sales and Marketing, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting data analysis, supporting business development, operations and innovation, and assist with licensing and copyright matters for IMO sales publications.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Data analysis
1. Perform statistical analyses and generate reports with actionable recommendations for key business decisions, including sales trends, financial reporting and inventory review.
Required Competencies
a) Knowledge, skills, and ability to extract, interpret and analyse data to support informed decision-making.
b) Ability to identify and resolve data discrepancies and operational problems.
c) Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to draft technical issues clearly and concisely to various audiences, including rights and licensing matters and contract drafting.
Professional Experience
A minimum of six years of experience in publishing with at least two years of experience in data analysis is essential. Experience in business development and sales of publications or similar information products would be an asset. Similar experience within the UN common system or an international organization would be an asset.
Education
Secondary education to university entrance standard is essential.
Language Skills
Proficiency in English (written and oral) is essential. A working knowledge of other official UN languages, particularly French or Spanish, would be an asset.

Other Skills
Comprehensive and demonstrable knowledge of the publishing industry, including digital publishing is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Power BI, data visualization, sales trend analysis, and performance tracking is essential.
