Responsibilities
1. Develop and ensure implementation of information programmes to publicize priority issues, major events, programme initiatives and accomplishments, and major activities of the MAP Barcelona Convention system; draft information strategies, monitor and reports on progress, take appropriate follow-up action, and analyse outcomes; participate in selecting the information transmitted to key constituencies.
Competencies
PROFESSIONALISM: Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to biodiversity and interlinked sustainable development goals. Ability to identify issues, analyze and participate in the resolution of issues/problems. Ability to conduct data collection using various methods.
Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, public relations, environmental sciences, international relations, business or public administration or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related area is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English and French is required.

Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
