The objective is to ensure that UN Community Volunteers are effectively recruited, onboarded, supported, and guided throughout their assignments. By strengthening coordination and administrative processes, online volunteers will play a direct role in improving the quality and efficiency of UN volunteer deployment.
Context of the Assignment
The assignment is situated within the West Asia cluster of UNV ROECA, which oversees volunteer engagement activities across the region. As UN programmes increasingly rely on community-based volunteers to deliver services and promote inclusion, strong coordination mechanisms are essential.
The selected online volunteers will support UNV and UN partner entities by assisting with outreach, candidate management, onboarding, and documentation processes using the Unified Volunteering Platform (UVP). This behind-the-scenes support is critical to ensuring that volunteers are well-prepared, compliant with UN requirements, and able to contribute effectively from the start of their assignments.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the UNV ROECA Cluster Lead, online volunteers will undertake a wide range of volunteer management and coordination tasks, including:

Volunteers will support the promotion and launch of calls for applications through social media platforms and other communication channels. This includes coordinating outreach efforts with UN entities and UNV to attract suitable candidates for UN Community Volunteer roles.
Identification and Engagement of Volunteers
The assignment involves assisting in the identification and outreach of potential UN Community Volunteers, ensuring a diverse and inclusive pool of candidates aligned with UN values and programme needs.
Translation Support
Where required, volunteers will assist with translating UNV documents—such as assignment descriptions—into local languages to enhance accessibility and understanding among local communities.
Candidate Support and Profile Creation
Online volunteers will guide selected candidates through the process of creating profiles on the Unified Volunteering Platform (UVP) and explain the steps required to complete contracting procedures.
Documentation and Compliance
A significant responsibility involves supporting candidates in uploading mandatory documents to UVP. These include educational certificates, identity documents, beneficiary forms, medical clearance records, proof of completion of mandatory UN courses, and other relevant materials.
Onboarding and Training
Volunteers will help facilitate the completion of required UN and UNV courses, ensuring that each UN Community Volunteer understands and formally accepts their offer and contract within UVP.
Ongoing Volunteer Support
Throughout the assignment lifecycle, online volunteers will provide guidance and assistance to deployed UN Community Volunteers, including support with reporting and administrative queries.
Data Management and Record-Keeping
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of applicants, shortlisted candidates, and deployed volunteers is a key task. Volunteers will ensure data consistency across UVP and internal tracking tools.
Knowledge Sharing and Learning
The assignment also includes capturing lessons learned and sharing insights with UNV to improve future volunteer coordination processes. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed by the supervisor.
