Position Overview: Logistics Assistant (SC5)
The Logistics Assistant position is a full-time role based in Yaoundé, with a 12-month Service Contract (SC) at Grade SC5. The role is fully present (not remote) and plays a vital part in supporting WFP’s logistics operations in Cameroon.
Logistics Assistants at WFP are responsible for ensuring that food commodities and supplies move efficiently from procurement to distribution points. This involves close coordination with field offices, supply chain managers, and other functional units to ensure timely and accurate delivery of assistance to beneficiaries.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, the Logistics Assistant will support a wide range of logistics and supply chain activities. Core responsibilities include providing operational support to logistics processes in line with WFP’s standard procedures, ensuring effective delivery of food assistance.
The role involves supporting the timely ordering, dispatch, and delivery of food commodities and non-food supplies, working closely with field offices and internal stakeholders. The Logistics Assistant will also respond to technical queries, ensuring accurate and timely resolutions while maintaining a strong client-service mindset.
Another critical responsibility is supporting the management and quality assurance of commodity accounting data. This includes contributing to pipeline analyses, operational assessments, and planning across various delivery modalities. Academic Qualifications and Language Requirements
The minimum academic requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is considered an advantage.
In terms of language, fluency (Level C) in English is required. Depending on the duty station, fluency or intermediate knowledge in another official UN language may also be necessary. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the language used at the duty station.
