About the Information Security Operations Officer Position

The Information Security Operations Officer works within the Technology Management Services (TMS) Branch of the Information and Technology Management Department (INFOTEC).

The successful candidate will strengthen the organization’s cybersecurity posture by leading information security operations, cyber threat monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, digital forensics, and security operations improvements.

This role reports directly to the Information Security Operations Lead.

Information Security Operations Officer Responsibilities

The selected Information Security Operations Officer will perform several critical cybersecurity duties, including:

  • Lead information security monitoring and incident response activities.
  • Perform cyber threat hunting and threat intelligence analysis.
  • Investigate cybersecurity incidents and manage escalations.

  • Support containment, eradication, and recovery during cyber incidents.
  • Conduct digital forensics investigations.
  • Monitor emerging cyber threats and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Improve security monitoring capabilities and detection rules.
  • Manage vulnerability assessments and remediation activities.
  • Strengthen endpoint and network security configurations.
  • Participate in cyber simulation and tabletop exercises.
  • Develop cybersecurity reports, dashboards, and alerts.
  • Promote cybersecurity standards and best practices throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess one of the following educational qualifications:

  • Advanced university degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) plus two additional years of relevant experience.

Industry certifications are highly desirable, including:

  • CISSP
  • GCIH
  • BTL1 or BTL2
  • Microsoft Certified Security Operations Analyst Associate
  • SANS Certifications
  • TryHackMe SOC Certification
  • Equivalent cybersecurity certifications

Experience Requirements

To qualify for this Information Security Operations Officer vacancy, candidates should have:

  • At least 5 years of professional cybersecurity experience
  • Strong experience in Security Operations Centers (SOC)
